A teenager in Little Rock, Arkansas, got his jaw broken when a silver asian carp fish flew from the lake.The boy was riding an inner tube towed by a boat when the fish leaped from the water and hit him in the face. The boy, Seth Russell, 15 years of age, was knocked unconscious. When he woke up in the hospital, he didn’t remember anything according to his mother.

Seth has had oral surgery to wire several teeth together and still experiences back pain because of the whiplash from the high-speed collision.

First imported to the United States in the 1970′s, Silver Asian carps do not fly but they are quite good jumpers. They were brought to the United States by catfish farmers to remove algae and other matter from their ponds. The Environmental Protection Agency allowed cities to use the fish to help clean the water in sewer treatment plant ponds.

The Asian Carp are large and consume vast amounts of food and can weigh up to 100 pounds and grow to a length of more than four feet.
